An Upscale and Contemporary Home Renovation in Glenn Dale
I have the pleasure of working with a lovely family in Prince George’s County, Maryland on rebuilding their home. Tragically they lost the home due to a fire and happily no one was hurt but none of the belongings and much of their house was a total loss.
Fast forward almost a year and I come into the picture. The homeowner decided she wanted help rebuilding their home which included a new kitchen and 4 new bathrooms.
That’s a big task picking out all the final selections for not only the interior but exterior too and selecting all your furniture and decor.
Yes, they are working with a contractor but working with a decorating or design professional can help you look at the big picture and pull together a design that’s personalized just for your family.
We also take a lot of the burden off of you and serve as a resource for questions!
So our clients are a family of four including two young kids. Their previous home was a 60’s split level. It was a nice sized home with 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.

The client’s previous decor included a lot of brown. Which I know a lot of us can relate. I personally have had a brown accent wall with brown wood floors with brown furniture and brown curtains. Yeah it was a bit much.
So our clients moving forward wanted very little to do with the color brown. In working with them I’m also serving as a liaison with the contractor to update their home with a gray color scheme.

We’re well into a year with the remodel and as you can see much has been completed. The exterior has new stucco and the brick will be refaced with stone veneer. As you can see we’re testing out samples. The back of the home will have siding.
The new home also now boasts a 2 story foyer, large modern kitchen, 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms and en-suite master bedroom.

There’s so much going on and we’re nearing the end. I’ll share some of our initial design boards here but stay tuned for a different post on each space of the home. That way you’ll get the full picture of what we did and how we did it!
Our clients want comfort of course but also love a contemporary and bold design…

Well that’s it for now. Come back next week where I’ll start breaking down a room by room update.
