One Room Challenge Spring 2020 Week 5: Black Lives Matter Support
This week the ORC set aside time to observe the Black Lives Matter Movement.
I have to admit I was a little numb to the movement in it’s earlier days. I didn’t think it would get traction and just be another forgotten push to recognize the inequality that exists today.
I was numb because I used to work in the disparities and health inequities field and didn’t see change.
I was numb because I worked with non-profit groups spending lots of night and weekends to support but no change.
I was numb because there wasn’t enough of a focus on solutions and no change!
I saw how fragmented the organizations were and that we were up against systems issues. That we were up against institutionalized racism.
Don’t get me wrong I do understand the power of protesting but now we’re hearing about policy reform. Real ways for people to act and solutions for racial inequality.
I wanted to use this post to bring awareness to proposed solutions for you to take the time to research and support…
