Contemporary Chic Primary Suite Reveal in Glenn Dale, MD

Welcome back to our glam and contemporary chic project reveal in Glenn Dale, MD which is a suburb located just outside of DC. This section of the house was added as an extension after the fire and entails a generous size bedroom and spa-like en suite bathroom. See below for our project renderings and moodboards to help us visualize the concept for the space…

Primary bedroom

This time we’re mixing emerald green, gold and silver for the primary suite. For the walls, we stayed with Mindful Gray by Sherwin Williams to stay consistent with the rest of the home. The client did not want the bedroom to look “dark” and preferred we stayed on the lighter color scheme side with some touches of bold color.

For all the bedrooms, the clients preferred carpet so we went with a gray plush option. We chose the longest wall in the room for the accent wall. The plan was to always do wallpaper on this wall and we were going to go with a very “safe”pattern but decided to amp it up to a large marble mural with gold details to tie in with the overall design scheme. The clients commented that it was one of their favorite things in the home.

We also opted to do velvet wall panels for the headboard. The idea was to do a tall headboard style but then we reduced the number of panels because we wanted more of the wall mural to show.

We selected mirrored nightstands with a faux crocodile face and silver trim. The table lamps are glass with a smoked effect and glitter accents. For the seating area, we went with two high back accent chairs that are silver in a textured velvet and a marble top accent table. We went with a shagreen dresser with gold handles from TOV furniture.

The client loves the contemporary electric fireplace to add warmth and coziness to the space.

We opted for custom green and gold curtains to bring in a contrasting color. The accent pillows were selected to complement the wall mural and curtains. To complete the look, we selected green and gold wall art in silver frames and a tall wall mirror.

Primary bath

We wanted to ensure all the bathrooms looked similar but not identical. Again we started with Mindful Gray on the walls. We have a generous sized shower that’s the focal point of the bathroom. The clients definitely wanted a large soaking whirlpool tub that is necessary for relaxing after long days.

We have a double vanity with a distressed wood and chrome. The clients wanted a very sleek and contemporary look for the bathroom. We paired the vanity with a silver framed mirror and multi wire wrapped vanity light. The wall art completes the look with a botanical touch to add to the calming feel of the space.

Stay tuned for next week’s post on the grand two-level foyer!
